MMMMMMM That’s Some Refreshing Irony

I am interrupting the previously scheduled inter cultural relationship post to talk to you about something very important, PBR.

Bob and Barbara's: Home of the "Citywide Special"

According to Times and Gawker Pabst Blue Ribbon, the beer known to all as what rednecks or hispters drink because it is excessively cheap, has premiered in China for the cool price of 44 bucks a bottle.  Now I am not going to knock PBR, in college I could buy a 6-pack of pounders for $3 and even as an adult, I’ve been known to sneak into certain Philly dives for a $2 PBR and a shot of Jim Bean known as the “citywide special.”  I do know, however, that PBR is swill and would never be consumed if it wasn’t cheap or ironic.  The fact that the Chinese are willing to spend $43 too much for this is beyond me, its almost as if its an entire country made up of 1.3 billion tourists in Times Square willing to break the bank on a meal at TGI Friday’s.  I suppose they aren’t westernized yet to understand irony.
