So unless you’ve been living under to rock for the past 48 hours you know that Chelsea Clinton, only daughter of President Bill Clinton and Madam Secretary Hillary Rodham Clinton was married yesterday to Mark Mezvinsky. Mark is also a son of two former Congress members, Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinsky and Edward Mezvinksy, Marjorie is a former congresswoman from my area and runs the Women’s Campaign International. I’ve run into her quite a bit in Philadelphia whether she was stumping for Ed Rendell or Hillary for President, she is a remarkable woman. I am glad to see two distinguished families joined through the love and friendship of their children.

The newlyweds celebrated an interfaith ceremony with a rabbi and minister. I’ve seen a lot of Christian-Jewish couples growing up, many people I know are children to this particular pairing, I’ve dated a few Jewish men myself. The funny thing is I never once considered the hardships an interfaith pair might face until I started dating A. Judaism, although the basis of Christianity, is a completely different faith, with different rituals and holy days. I guess I just never thought long term with my former Jewish suitors. Blended houses can be wonderful, so to all interfaith couples out there, including Chelsea and Mark, I send you my best wishes!
