Hello, hello, I’ve neglected my blog for the past few days and my hits show it!
So for those of you wondering, no I am not having a Pakistani wedding this Friday but I may be attending one. A’s best friend/surrogate older brother is getting married, maybe, this Friday. The decision was made last Thursday. This is all a very long story and well, I am shocked at how scandalous the lives of Pakistanis can be! All of this behavior flies in the face of trolls to these blogs who claim how virtuous South Asian people are, how much they value marriage, blah blah blah….Let’s just say this is a second marriage to someone who had been involved with for a very long time, there is all sorts of family drama, from her parents and his children OY!
So why do I care or write about this, well because I need something to wear to this wedding that might happen, that I found out about a week before its occurrence. So I set my sights out, where in the hell do I find a saree in the City of Brotherly Love?? Well Google gives me two options, one of which no longer exists and the other which is really pricey, like $600 a dress pricey!!!! Oh and apparently buying a saree days in advance is impossible since they will have to fit me for my shirt, so Salwar Kameez is my only option but I still can’t afford it! So tomorrow A and I are taking off to Oak Tree Rd in Edison, NJ, the mini-muthaland as one of my Pakistani girlfriends put it to find me something to wear, oh and he is buying it since you know, he just got a promotion and a raise and now makes more than twice as me!!! So pray for me friends, that I can find something suitable tomorrow, just two days before the event!
